About this Cocktail

A navy rum manhattan. This is a seductive, rich and elegant take on its tighter, prickly rye cousin.

  • 2oz Wood's Navy Rum
  • 1oz Cocchi Di Torino
  • 1/2oz Maraschino liquer
  • Dash homemade orange bitters
  • Homemade cocktail cherry

Stir first four ingredients over ice. The rum is 57% ABV (114 proof) so can use some dilution to open it up. Strain into a chilled coupe and garnish with the cherry.

Give please recipe of your orange bitter, if it's possible

The batch was made a while back so I'll have to dredge it out of my memory. Dried Seville orange peel, coriander seeds, a couple of cloves and a cardamom pod steeped in a mix of bourbon and brandy strengthened with a bit of wray & nephew to bring up the proof. I think that was it.

There's a great recipe in the book Bitters by Brad Thomas Parsons
