Another 'classic' beer cocktail, obviously a take on the old fashioned. For this drink we opt to reduce the amount of Rye, and cut it with Young Master's Rye on Wood (not pictured as we serve it on tap); a rye ale which is brewed with young American oak, rye grain (obviously), and caramel malts. We add a dash of Fee Bro's walnut bitters to balance out the sweetness and spice.
30ml Rebel Yell Straight Rye Whiskey
50ml Young Master's Rye on Wood
1 Dash Fee Bro's Black Walnut Bitters
1 Bar Spoon Simple syrup
Combine all ingredients in mixing glass and stir. Strain over rock of ice and zest with orange peel. Note that this is a very light old fashioned, meant to accentuate the flavours in the ale as opposed to having a bold whiskey based drink. Though Rye on Wood can only be found in Asia, using any (affordable) barrel aged ale/ rye ale could work.
