This is a pretty standard old fashioned, except that 1. being an archaeologist, I had the good luck to get my hands on some of Chrysalis Archaeolgy's (a CRM firm in NYC) recreated 19th century Dr. Hofstetter's Stomach Bitters, and 2. I used a syrup that was mixture of honey, turbinado and regular sugar.
2oz. Rye whiskey
0.5 oz "simple" (see above) syrup
6 drops Chrysalis Archaeology Dr. Hofstetter's Stomach Bitters
3 dashes Angostura Bitters
Lemon twist and cherry for garnish
Chill a rocks glass, stir ingredients except garnish in ice filled shaker, strain into chilled glass filled with ice (or with a big cube) express twist and garnish
