Found this on an old copy of the Mr. Boston's cocktail guide from the 1930s. The recipe did not call for a twist but the drink was significantly improved with it - comes across like a martini variation. I used a mid-level aged rum, the the recipe simply called for "imported rum." Smith and Cross would probably be a nice call here.
3/4 oz. Beefeaters gin
3/4 oz. rum
3/4 oz. Dolin dry vermouth
2 dashes Regan's orange bitters
Combine all, stir and strain into coupe. Lemon peel garnish.
