Ingredients:
2 oz Bourbon
1 oz Sweet Vermouth (Carpano Antica)
1/4 oz Fernet Branca
Lemon peel
Preparation:
Add bourbon and vermouth to glass over ice. Stir briskly for 20-30 seconds. Rinse chilled coupe glass with Fernet Branca. Leave remaining Fernet. Strain bourbon/vermouth mixture over top. Garnish with an expressed lemon peel.
I have a hard time doing Fernet with a lemon peel, used orange peel and a dash of Angostura. What a lovely, dark cocktail. Maybe even preferable to a Toronto! Thanks for sharing!
This has been attributed to a few people & bars across the web. In reality, it's essentially the Fanciulli from 1930s The Old Waldorf Astoria Bar Book toned down (most people make it closer to the Dobbs recipe though).
