East Indies Sling

About this Cocktail

Yet again, my limited creativity has sent me in the direction of the Esquire magazine drink of the week. This tasty punch-like cocktail is attributed to Bernie Waters of Rose Bar at The Delano In Miami.

Ingredients:
  • 1.5 oz Bombay Sapphire Gin
  • 1 oz Sweet Vermouth
  • .75 oz Lemon Juice
  • .25 oz Simple Syrup
  • .5 oz Fernet Branca
  • .5 oz Luxardo Marschino
  • 2 dashes Rhubarb Bitters
Preparation:

Combine gin, modifiers, mixer and bitters into mixing glass.
Add ice, shake, and then strain into a Collins glass, top with soda water, and garnish with an orange peel.

    How big is the Collins glass in this recipe? Bigger than 10 ounces? Do you just use 3 cold draft cubes in the glass? Seems like a lot of volume for a ten ounce glass with cubes.

    Yep, it's a lot, but works using a standard collins glass. 4.5 ounces of liquid before the ice and soda (which is just a splash in reality) and 3 cubes.
