About this Cocktail

My favorite bar in NYC is a quaint spot in the East Village called Amor y Amargo. This is a bitters bar and the bartenders love to educate you on interesting spirits you may not have heard of before. This drink is inspired by my last trip there where I was introduced to Jelenik, a Czech fernet that tastes nothing like the "Fernet" we're used to drinking in San Francisco. It's slightly sweet, herbal, with notes of cinnamon, and drinks smooth.

Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 oz Rittenhouse Rye
  • 1 1/2 oz Carpano Antica
  • 3/4 oz R. Jelenik Fernet
  • 1/2 oz Flor de Caña 12 year Aged Rum
  • 3 dashes Regan's orange bitters
  • 1 twist orange peel, expressed
Preparation:

Combine all ingredients in mixing glass, stir over ice, strain into coupe, garnish with orange peel.
