About this Cocktail

In preparation for National Margarita Day, this cocktail plays with hibiscus tea as a simple syrup. The mezcal provides a bit of depth, but avoids tasting like an ashtray.

Ingredients:
  • 2.0 oz Patron plata tequila
  • 0.5 oz hibiscus tea simple syrup
  • 0.5 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
Preparation:

Shake, strain and garnish with a lime wedge.

For the hibiscus tea simple syrup: One cup loosely packed dried hibiscus flowers are steeped in once cup boiling water for three minutes. Strained and one cup of sugar (half organic, half turbinado raw) are dissolved I tot he warm tea. Cool and use. Excess is great as a sweetener for soda (0.5 syrup to 8 oz soda water and ice).
