This drink was partly inspired by me time working in the Shenandoah Mountains and my fascination with classic southern cocktails. This drink also won Cocktail of the Month on About.com's cocktail page for July 2015. This drink contains moonshine which if you don't have access to the real thing there are plenty of commercial bottles.
0.75oz Fine Brandy (E&J XO)
0.25oz Almond Syrup
6-8 Mint leaves
3 Lemon wedges
2 bar spoons Bonne Mamam Wild Blueberry Preserves
In a cocktail shaker, muddle the lemon wedges with almond syrup until all of the juices and oils are extracted.
Add remaining ingredients and fresh ice.
Shake vigorously to fully mix the preserves.
Double strain into an old-fashioned glass with one large ice cube.
Garnish with a fresh sprig of mint and serve.
