This Cognac comes off as a bit brash, especially at what passes for "room temperature" in a New Orleans summer. Cool it down to take some edge off and it's still fruity and straightforward enough to stand up to some tough bitters.
Build over ice, stir for a little dilution, then serve in a chilled glass. Just like Dan Hicks you're beatin' the heat. Go slow. Don't want that devil getting ideas.
