Good Time Gal

About this Cocktail

The Boulevardier is a brilliant drink, the bourbon riff on the Negroni. Here I have twisted the Boulevardier dialing back the bitterness by swapping out the Campari replacing it with Cynar and then pulling back the sweetness by swapping Dolin Blanc dry vermouth in for the sweet vermouth. Oh and yes instead of straight bourbon I have used a lovely infusion that is brewing away in the back room (Woodford Reserve over sliced apple with cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, vanilla and Demerara sugar). Now that on its own may well make a lovely drink (I will be testing that theory later) but here I have used that equal parts mixture as the modifying agent in a rye Manhattan style drink. Essentially a really lovely complex manhattan. As for the name a boulevardier is someone who likes a good time, walking the streets. I've taken that character added a little spice, layers of complexity behind the simple facade and placed it into New York - she is a Good Time Gal.

  • 2 oz rye (I used Redemption rye made with 95% rye so extra spicy)
  • 1/3 oz apple spice infused bourbon
  • 1/3 oz Cynar
  • 1/3 oz Dolin Blanc dry vermouth
  • Dash Dr Adam Elmegirab's Spanish Bitters
  • A Cherry

Combine, stir, strain.
