About this Cocktail

I call this one "Gray Heart", because it's basically the "Black Heart", from Experimental Cocktail Club in New York City, minus two ingredients (a scotch-rinse and an orange twist over the drink and then discarded). My friend David Imbordino suggested the name after discussing that this isn't technically a "variation" on that drink, so what is it exactly? And how should I refer to a drink that's a pre-existing drink minus a couple of things?

Ingredients:
  • 2oz bourbon
  • 1/2oz Cynar
  • 2d Bittermens Boston Bittahs
  • 1.5t maraschino
  • 10 dark coffee beans
Preparation:

Stir all ingredients together with ice, then strain in to a chilled glass.
