Hot Buttered Rum

About this Cocktail

A colonial favorite—just like Ben Franklin used to make in his crock pot.

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups Brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) Butter
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 quarts Hot water
  • 3 Cinnamon sticks
  • 6 Whole cloves
  • 2 cups Dark rum
  • Whipped cream, freshly grated nutmeg for garnish
Preparation:

Combine brown sugar, butter, salt, and hot water in a crock pot. Add cinnamon sticks and cloves. Cook on low for five hours. Stir in rum. Then ladle into mugs. Top each mug with whipped cream and freshly grated nutmeg.
