I Dream of Bergamot

About this Cocktail

Once again with the Black Bottle Scotch - its slightly smoky nature (which comes from being a blend of Islay malts) really works well with the Earl Grey. I'm assuming you could approximate it with some relatively neutral blend and a small splash of Laphroaig.

Ingredients:
  • 1.5 oz Black Bottle Scotch
  • 0.5 oz Earl Grey gin (Tanqueray, in this case)
  • 0.5 oz lemon
  • 0.5 oz maple simple (1:1 maple syrup to water)
  • ~6 drops Fee Brothers Orange Bitters
  • ~8 drops Angostura bitters
Preparation:

Shake, double strain onto rocks, garnish with orange swath.

[Earl Grey gin - 1 tsp Earl Grey tea leaves for every 50 ml of gin. Invert once or twice to mix, let sit 30 minutes, strain off.]

Damn you and your bergamot! I'm going to have to go buy earl grey tea for the first time in years.

Or, you know, I could just bring you an ounce of the gin and save you the trouble.

    Or that...

I need to edit the recipe and switch to Regan's - better fit.

I used 1.25 oz of Famous Grouse and 0.25 oz of Laphroaig Quarter Cask and it was a very nice drink. Thanks for sharing!
