About this Cocktail

This one comes to me via Ryan Gannon of Cure. He pulls together a section of their menu called Obscure Classics and this is a selection for their summer menu. Ryan said that "it's one of his favorite shaken tequila cocktails" and I have to agree with his assessment.

Ingredients:
  • 2 oz. Tequila (Tequila Cabeza)
  • .75 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
  • .5 oz. 2:1 Honey Syrup
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
Preparation:

Combine ingredients into a cocktail shaker over ice. Shake in an aggressive and intimidating manner (or not).
Strain into a chilled coupe.

    Made this with honey drinking vinegar and gum syrup and it worked out fine!

    When I made it, I found the recipe in my 1940 edition of The How and When. Don't know how much further back it goes, especially since the first cocktail book with a handful of tequila recipes was the 1937 Café Royal Cocktail Book.
