La Belle République

About this Cocktail

A demonbitters original. I have a bottle of perique, the Jade Liqueurs French-made Louisiana tobacco liqueur. I have also been experimenting with an infusion of ramson leaves (young wild garlic). This latter I have combined with some quinine sulphate infused vodka (for bitterness) and a little each of a fig leaf infusion (for warm fruity earthiness in the background) and a clove, cardamom and coriander infusion (for some spice complexity) to make Ramson Bitters (7:3:2:2 ratio since you ask). These have a subtle garlic flavour but married with and toned down by the other warmer notes. So I have tobacco and garlic. The pure essence of La Belle Republique.

  • 50ml gin
  • 15ml Dolin Blanc dry vermouth
  • 3 dashes Ramson Bitters
  • 1/2 barspoon Perique Liqueur de Tabac

Combine ingredients. Strain, drop in an olive with disdain and sip while smoking a Gitane.
