I had a version of this with my girl friend in Florida. The best bartender in Sarasota fl slung this to us off the top of his head. So I'm trying it out with all we have here in Memphis.
Basically this is a top shelf hurricane with winter spice.
You get an intriguing dark spice yet sweet and refreshing guzzler of a drink that will put you out of commission
1 oz flor de caña (clear rum)
3/4 oz smith and cross navy strength spiced rum
1/2 oz black strap rum
1/4 oz Pedro Ximenez sherry
1.5 oz fresh oj
1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
1/4 oz fresh lime juice
1/4 oz spiced simple syrup
Crush about 8 whole cloves in a shaker. combine all the ingredients (except the spiced syrup) with the crushed clove. Shake a double strain into a Collins glass with 3 large rocks. Top with a splash of soda, then add the spiced syrup at the end, allowing it to sink to the bottom (creating the nice color
gradient). Garnish with a lemon swatch stabbed with a whole clove. Enjoy.
