Liquorice Sour

About this Cocktail

I popped down to the awesome Masala Mart (a warehouse-like Indian supermarket in Greenwich, London) and bought some liquorice twigs. A couple of these were smashed up with a rolling pin, boiled in a little water, strained and then combined with a similar quantity of sugar to make a tasty and dark liquorice syrup. All that was needed was some booze to go with it. Hence the Liquorice Sour was born.

Ingredients:
  • 50ml Bourbon
  • 20ml lemon juice
  • 15ml liquorice syrup
  • 1/2 egg white
  • A dash of Dr Adam Elmegirab's Teapot Bitters
Preparation:

Shake all ingredients hard over ice and double strain into a chilled coupe. Add a couple more drops of bitters on top.
