My 100th drink on BarNotes!

Lord Invader was the stage name of Rupert Grant (pictured) who was a Calypso star in Trinidad and wrote the lyrics to Rum & Coca Cola which became a massive hot in 1945 for The Andrews Sisters.

To make the cola syrup boil the following for 20 minutes

500ml water
400g white sugar
30g dark muscovado sugar
Star anise
Cinnamon stick
Vanilla pod
Zest of a lime, a lemon and an orange
1tsp coriander seeds
1tsp grated ginger
1tsp lavender
1/2tsp citric acid crystals

Ingredients:
  • 1.5oz Green Island light rum
  • 1oz Wray & Nephew overproof white rum
  • 0.75oz lime juice
  • 0.5oz cola syrup
Preparation:

Shake hard until your hands shiver. Strain and adorn the glass with a peel & flesh disk of lime.
