About this Cocktail

Given the influence this drink had on BarNotes I feel compelled to include the original from Richard Boccato and Michael McIlroy of Milk and Honey. The primary difference from the version I was originally shown is the use of brown sugar (though I've seen Demerara cited as well) instead of maple syrup. This version also only uses orange bitters excluding the cherry bitters. Killer drink and either way my favorite old fashioned variation. Period.

  • 1 oz. Rittenhouse rye whiskey
  • 1 oz. Laird's Bonded Apple Brandy
  • 1 tsp brown sugar (or single cube)
  • 2 dashesRegans orange bitters
  • 2 Dashes fees orange

In an old fashioned glass combine sugar and bitters with a few drops of water and stir. Add both spirits and stir again. Add fresh ice and garnish with orange peel.
