About this Cocktail

Reverse engineered from cocktail menu at the Old Sugar Distillery in Madison, Wisconsin. Uses Queen Jennie Sorghum Whiskey and their Ouzo instead of absinthe. It's Sazerac-like.

Ingredients:
  • 1 sugar cube (demerara)
  • 1 1/2 oz Queen Jennie Sorghum Whiskey (Old Sugar Distillery, Madison, WI)
  • 2 dashes Peychaud's bitters
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters
  • Ice
  • Rinse of Amerikanaki Ouzo (OSD, Mad, WI)
  • Orange or Lemon Peel garnish
Preparation:

Put sugar cube in mixing glass. Moisten. Crush.
Add whiskey, bitters and ice to mixing glass. Mix for 30 seconds or until chilled.
Rinse chilled old fashioned glass with Ouzo, pour out excess.
Strain Sazerac mixture into glass.
Rub rim of glass with twisted peel and then garnish.
Serve neat.
