After many research I have found this is the best way to prepare this classic cocktail.
1 teaspoon brown sugar
2 dashes of Angostura
1 teaspoon of water
1.5 oz rye whisky, bourbon or scotch
Orange and lemon peel
Rub the orange peel around the glass walls
Add Angostura and water, stir
Add 1/2 whisky, stir
Add ice and 1/2 whisky, stir
Twist lemon peel and drop it into the glass Add 1/2 whisky, stir
Add orange oil over the surface, rub around the glass edge and drop into the glass
I. At 1 Add the orange peel and press muddle to release oils on the dilution
II. At 1 substitute water for lemon juice
III. At 1 substitute water for club soda
You may flame the orange peel at the end.
You may use orange and/or lemon wedge to garnish.
You may use both orange and angostura bitters.
Use a large ice cube.
