A bourbon and rye perfect Manhattan using bottle aged Applejack Boulevardier in place of the sweet vermouth. The subtle Campari bitterness balances the addition of some bourbon and works well with the chocolate notes of the bitters.
The applejack boulevardier was made at Christmas. Equal volumes Applejack, Gran Lusso sweet vermouth and Campari.
20ml bourbon (Buffalo Trace)
40ml rye (Rittenhouse 100)
15ml dry vermouth
15ml bottle aged Applejack boulevardier
Large dash of Aphrodite Bitters
Stir, strain. Express orange zest over and drop in.
