Another take on my favourite cocktail, the whisky sour. The New York sour had the addition of red wine.
Don't use a cheapy wine though, use something full of flavour and something will complement the whisky you are using.
It will take some time to perfect the red wine layer but once mastered it looks great!...
50 ml Bourbon
30ml lemon juice
15ml sugar syrup
1 egg white
2 dashes of angostura bitters
.Dry shake all the ingredients (bar the red wine)
.Add ice and shake again
.Double strain into a rocks glass with ice
.Let the drink settle and form the layer before adding the red wine
.Now with the back of a bar spoon, pour gently the red wine over the spoon and into the drink, forming a small third layer of wine underneath the egg white foam. Make sure it is a small layer and not a layer half the size do the glass!....
