About this Cocktail

Rum for the Caribbean, sherry for Spain, chocolate for the indigenous Americas, bittered sling for the US of A. Manhattan of sorts for a Puerto Rican's Manhattan. Why Tequila, not usually thought of as a Caribbean spirit? Because I'm a Puerto Rican in New York and I get to decide what that means, dammit. Original cocktail created in Queens, NY, 2013.

Ingredients:
  • 1 oz añejo rum
  • 1 oz añejo tequila
  • 2/3 oz amontillado sherry
  • 1/3 oz Pedro Ximénez sherry

  • 1 Luxardo cherry

Stir, strain into chilled coupe with Luxardo cherry at bottom, express orange oil and discard peel, garnish with pineapple leaf.
