Simple and tasty Old Fashioned recipe
2 oz Rye Whisky
1/3 oz Simple Syrup
3 - 4 dashes bitters
1 orange slice
1 Maraschino cherry
Cut a flat section out of a fresh orange, slice it in half and place it in a flat bottomed, sturdy glass (that second slice will work nicely for a second drink.)
Spoon one maraschino cherry out and place it on the orange slice in the glass.
Add 3 to 4 dashes of bitters to the fruit in the glass
Add 1/3 ounce of simple syrup to the fruit and bitters.
Time to muddle. The secret is not to crush it into a pulp. Give it a few good presses and twists to extract the juices and mix the concoction
Pour in 2 ounces of rye.
Now, add ice up to the brim of the glass.
Stir with a bar spoon for a few seconds.
