About this Cocktail

Yankee fans take heed... Basically a Martinez with rum, this recipe is from Rum Club in Portland, OR, as shown to me by Dan Stone. The Maraschino liqueur balances out nicely with the dark rum.

Ingredients:
  • 2 oz. Matusalem Clásico rum
  • 1 oz. sweet vermouth
  • 1/4 oz. Maraschino liqueur
  • 2 dashes angostura
  • 2 dashes orange bitters
Preparation:

Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass, add ice and stir.

Serve in a rocks with 1 large cube or up in a chilled coupe.

    It does indeed...

I always made it with light Dominican rum. Works either way.

Probably more "Martinez" like with a lighter rum I guess. Damn fine whichever route you take.

Ran out of dark rum the other day, but made it with light and it was great. Looking forward to trying it again once I've restocked.

This was as fantastic as everyone said. Used a large cube and got a gorgeous pic.
