In olden days, folks gave the name of Prescription Julep to those juleps that mixed mellow Cognac with spicy rye. Here, the spirituous soulmates take a trip to the tropics. Unrelatedly, here's a picture of a dude and a dog. Rafa García Febles, NYC, 2013.
1 1/2 oz Louis Royer Cognac
1/2 oz rye
1/2 oz Mathilde peach liqueur
1/2 oz lemon juice
8-10 mint leaves
1 dash Angostura bitters
1/2 oz Smith & Cross Jamaican rum (as float)
Gently press mint leaves in syrup in serving ass, add spirits bitters and lemon juice, cover in crushed ice, swizzle, top with more ice, float rum, garnish with a slapped mint sprig, serve with straw.
