About this Cocktail

At the Sazerac Bar at the Roosevelt Hotel in New Orleans (popularized here in the 30's by Gov. Huey Long)

Ingredients:
  • 2 oz Half-and-Half
  • 1 1/2 oz dry gin
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice (fresh)
  • 1 large egg white
  • 1 dash orange flower water
  • 1 drop vanilla extract
  • 1 oz club soda
Preparation:

As described in "In the Land of Cocktails"... with the mixing routine from the bartender at the Roosevelt:

combine all ingredients (except club soda) and dry shake for 2 minutes (yes 2 minutes).

Add 1 piece of ice and shake until it is gone (yep... another 2-3 minutes)

Pour into collins glass and then add the club soda... froth should extend beyond the rim of the glass!
