About this Cocktail

"...Sailor's Delight."

Started making an Old Fashioned when I realized I didn't have an orange. Noticed a juicy lemon and some ginger and decided to call a series of audibles. It's reminiscent of the essence of a Dark n Stormy while being much sunnier and brighter tasting. Hence the name.

  • 2 oz Dark rum
  • 1 oz Blackstrap Rum
  • 1 oz ginger honey syrup
  • .5 oz lemon juice
  • Luxardo cherry plus bar spoon of Luxardo syrup
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters

I threw together a little ginger honey syrup in my microwave grating about 1 inch of ginger in a glass jar, adding about 4 or 5 oz of water, and 3 or 4 oz of honey. I just eyeballed it, microwaved it for 30 seconds
and tasted it and tweaked from there. Add ginger to taste but the stronger the better to come through in the cocktail. Strain out the ginger when you're ready to add it to your cocktail.

Add the drink's ingredients to a lowball glass, add a few ice cubes and stir. I didn't muddle the cherry but that's personal preference. Drink and enjoy. Cheers!
