Rosemary Julep

About this Cocktail

There are few things I love more than rosemary in the cooler months or bourbon any month at all. This rosemary julep is the perfect marriage of these flavors.

  • 2 oz. Good Bourbon
  • 1 sprig Fresh Rosemary (plus 1 for garnish)
  • 2 Demerara sugar cubes
  • Fresh Nutmeg
  • Crushed Ice

Grind sugar cubes to a fine powder in a mortar and pestle. Transfer to julep cup with stripped rosemary sprig. Add a small amount of water and Bruise rosemary. Add bourbon and let those flavors mellow together while you crush your ice (Lewis bag or kitchen towel.) Fill julep cup entirely with crushed ice. Grate fresh nutmeg over top. Garnish with rosemary sprig and insert straw. Sip slowly.
