For Christmas Eve, 2018 I created a special drink that had lots of moving parts, but worked really well. I made candied blood orange peels for garnish, as well as a simple syrup from sweet orange tea especially for this. Then used a smoker box to add hint of cherry wood and the tea mix over the whole thing.
1 oz bourbon (high west American prairie)
.75 oz rye (high west double rye)
.75 oz China China Amer
.5 oz fresh blood orange juice
.5 oz orange tea simple syrup
.25 oz mint simple syrup
Dash angostura orange bitters
Dash fee brothers orange bitters
Combine ingredients, shake well over ice. Double strain into cocktail coupe. Smoke for 45-60 seconds. Garnish with candied blood orange peel. (Makes about a 4oz drink, accounting for dilution).
