About this Cocktail

Avondale

Ingredients:
  • Peychauds bitters
  • Sugar cubes
  • Rye whiskey
  • Absinthe
  • Lemon twist
Preparation:

2 glasses. One iced down. Other one 2 sugar cubes and 4 dash bitters muddled. Full shot of rye whiskey. Stir to dissolve sugar. Pour out ice from chilled glass and wash glass with a little absinthe. Pour absinthe out (give excess to customer with water added to shot glass) and add sugar whiskey to absinthe washed glass. Lemon twist ( coat rim).

    Definitely a variation I'm into. If you want to give me a free shot of absinthe, I'll gladly take it!

    Way too sweet with half the required whiskey. The better recipe will use only 1 sugar cube and 2 full shots of rye whiskey. The BEST recipe will only use half a sugar cube. Be generous with the Peychauds Bitters and Absinthe rinse.
