About this Cocktail

Kirk (@cure) formerly of the violet hour introduced me to the sazerac a long time ago. This is how we make it at home.

Ingredients:
  • 2 oz of jim beam rye
  • .5 oz Demerara syrup (2 to 1)
  • 6 dashes peychauds bitters
  • 1 dash fee bros whiskey barrel aged bitters
  • Absinthe rinse
Preparation:

Build the syrup, bitters and rye in a glass, chill your final glass.

Stir the cocktail with ice in the build glass.

When ready take the chilled glass and give it a rinse of absinthe. An eye dropper works well for this.

Strain the cocktail into the chilled glass.

Express the oil from a lemon peel over the glass...discard the lemon peel.

Enjoy
