About this Cocktail

A take on the improved cocktail using Bittermens Burlesque bitters and Bols.

  • 2 oz. Bols Genever Gin
  • 20 (or so) drops of Bittermens Burlesque
  • 2 dashes Regans orange bitters
  • Bar spoon Maraschino liqueur
  • 1 sugar cube

In a mixing glass coat sugar cube with bitters. Stir to dissolve. Add gin, maraschino, ice and stir. Strain into a coupe garnish with lemon, and put on some Jellyroll Morton FTW.

Tried this with Ketel 1 graanjenever (the only genever I have in the house) and it's far too mild to stand up to the bitters and Maraschino. May split it 80/20 with some regular gin on the next batch or might go crazy and try some other clear liqueur like cachaça.

Yes, this is a basic cocktail prep that should work with a number of spirits. Wouldn't suck with a decent rye like Rittenhouse.

I like a cocktail that calls for 20...or so drops of bitters
