i spent a weekend at a friends' cabin in the mountains that could have been right out of a horror movie with limited booze options. i went through the small kitchen for everything i could use in a cocktail and came up with this on the fly while we decided how our cabin-in-woods horror flick should go.
2 oz. Fernet Branca
.75 oz. ginger syrup
.25 oz. vanilla + clove brown sugar syrup
add all ingredients into your tin and shake, and strain into a coupe.
the latter syrup recipe:
1.5 cups brown sugar
1 cup water
1.5 tsp. vanilla extract
brought water to just under a boil, then added remaining ingredients and removed from heat. strain out cloves, and let cool.
