I created this cocktail for use at Blackberry Farm, a Relais & Chateaux resort located in Walland, TN. The Manhattan, one of the finest and oldest cocktails, is traditionally made with Rye Whiskey. This cocktail has many different variations and is popular in the winter months. To give this drink a warm weather makeover, St. Germain and orange water are incorporated to help to lighten things up. Staying true to the classic recipe, two vermouths, Dolin Dry and Dolin Blanc, are used in equal parts. The un-aged Rye Whiskey not only keeps the drink looking clean and clear, but it also provides the kick that helps this Manhattan variation stay a classic sipping cocktail all summer long. 3 Oz. Jack Daniels Unaged Rye Whiskey
.5 Oz. Dolin Blanc Vermouth
.5 Oz. Dolin Dry Vermouth
.5 Oz. St. Germain
2 Drops of orange water
1 Luxardo Maraschino Cherry
In a mixing tin filled with ice add everything except the cherry. Stir until the mixing tin is cold and then strain the liquid into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a Luxardo Maraschino Cherry.
