About this Cocktail

This is a cocktail I created for use at Blackberry Farm, a Relais & Chateaux resort in Walland, TN. This cocktail has a look like an Old Fashion, has a taste like a bourbon and ginger, but you drink it like a manhattan. This was also the opening night passed cocktail for the Taste of the South 2013 event at Blackberry Farm.

  • 1.5 oz. Belle Meade Bourbon Whiskey
  • .75 oz. Southern Water*
  • 1 long lemon corkscrew twist
  • 1 moonshine cherry

In a mixing tin with ice add the bourbon and southern water. Stir till cold and then strain into a mini mason jar. Garnish with a lemon twist and a moonshine cherry.

*Southern Water recipe: Place 1/2 cup of pure sorghum, fresh ginger cut up, 1 whole Granny Smith apple cut up and 1 cup of boiling water into a pot. Stir to mix. Place on a stove over medium heat. Once it starts to boil remove and strain out liquid. Store in a container of choice and keep refrigerated.
