Suedois de Vanille

About this Cocktail

For those with a bottle of Swedish Punsch and nothing to do with it: the Suedois de Vanille is almost dessert-like as it not only has prominent vanilla and spice flavors, it also has a heavier mouthfeel than your typical cocktail due to the vermouth and vanilla paste combination. I almost want it in lieu of ice cream next to a piece of apple pie. Note: the very specific vanilla bean paste I used is actually quite easy to come by at Whole Foods, William-Sonoma, and probably a lot of other places. I'm trying to use it more in cocktails in place of vanilla syrup. As featured at

  • 1.5 oz gin (any)
  • 1 oz Swedish Punsch (I used Kronan)
  • 1/2 oz dry vermouth (i used Cocchi Americano)
  • 1/4 oz vanilla syrup (I used Nielsen Massey's Bourbon Vanilla Bean Paste in a 1/2 barspoon quantity instead)

Combine ingredients in a mixing glass. Add ice, stir and strain into a cocktail glass.
