A slight variation on the mojito after finding out that I had some, but not enough, fresh lime juice. However, I had plenty of fresh lemon juice. There were also some strawberries sitting in the fridge that also needed to be consumed.
2 oz Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva rum
.5 oz lime juice
.5 oz lemon juice
1 oz sugar cane syrup
6-8 small strawberries
8 sprigs of fresh mint + garnish
Carbonated water or club soda to top
In a highball or Collins glass, lightly muddle the sugar cane syrup, mint, strawberries, and lemon-lime juice. Add cracked ice, rum, and stir. Top off with carbonated water or club soda. Garnish with a mint sprig and a strawberry (if desired).
