The Fifth Star
Saved by 3 People
About this Cocktail

Chicago has terrible winters, which makes the summers that much better.

The Chicago flag bears four stars to represent historic, major events in Chicago's past. Because summers always seem to be a thing of legend, I have decided a fifth star should be added to represent this unicorn of seasons.

Nothing says summer like Grapefruit; nothing says Chicago like Malort.

  • 1 pt Jeppson's Malort liqueur
  • 4 pt Stiegl Radler
  • Splash fresh grapefruit juice
  • 3 dashes Fee Brothers Orange Bitters
  • Grape fruit peel, garnish

Chill serving glass with ice and water.

In a separate glass, combine Malort, Stiegl, juice and bitters over ice. Stir to chill.

Empty your chilled serving glass, and strain your cocktail into the serving glass.

Take a grape fruit peel, express the oils over the drink and around the rim. Slide in glass for garnish.
