About this Cocktail

I created this cocktail for a gentleman from London who requested I make something slightly sweet but dry and refreshing.

  • 1 1/2 ounce Strawberry-Rhubarb Vodka
  • 1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 3 bar spoons 2:1 ratio simple syrup
  • Cava, champagne or your favorite sparkling wine

The most complicated part of this cocktail is preparing your vodka. Grab yourself a bottle of vodka, nothing too extravagant. Dice 15 strawberries, and 1 stalk of rhubarb. Marry the vodka with your ingredients and let it hang out for a few hours. Overnight is preferred. Store at room temperature. Once your vodka is bright red and the strawberries are pale and taste like impurities it's time to strain. If you want your vodka pure, use a cheese cloth, it will remove all those little tidbits.
Now onto the cocktail. Combine the vodka, lemon juice and simple syrup into your shaker. Add ice and shake until cold. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and finish with sparkling wine. Garish with a twist of lemon or if you prefer a large beautiful strawberry.
