This is a cocktail I created for use at Blackberry Farm, a Relais & Chateaux resort located in Walland, TN. This cocktail brings to mind the brightness and earthiness that encompasses the summer months.
1.5 oz. Cathead Honeysuckle Vodka
.75 oz. Dolin Blanc Vermouth
.5 oz. Garden Herb Tea*
.25 oz. Simple Syrup (2:1 ratio)
3 one inch by one inch watermelon cubes
*Garden Herb Tea recipe: Place 3 rosemary stems, 3 thyme sprigs, 3 stems of tarragon, 1 basil leaf and 2 bay leaves in a container. Add 2 cups of boiling water and stir to mix. Let it steep for 10 minutes. Strain out the tea into a container of your choice. Keep refrigerated. Will stay good for at least a week.
In a mixing tin with ice add everything except one watermelon cube. Shake till cold and then strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with the remaining watermelon cube on a cocktail pick.
