About this Cocktail

A drink made famous in the first Ian Fleming novel, Casino Royale. The cocktail is named after agent Vesper Linde. This drink is best served shaken not stirred.

Ingredients:
  • 2 oz Gilbert gin
  • 1 oz Russian Vodka
  • .5 oz Lillet
  • 1 long thin slice lemon peel
Preparation:

Shake well, Serve in chilled Martini glass, drop lemon peel on top after twisting, then sip provocatively while being debonair.

    The original called for 3 parts gin - which is a hefty drink! I always liked this quote from that scene: "When I'm... concentrating," (Bond) explained, "I never have more than one drink before dinner. But I do like that one to be large and very strong and very cold and very well-made." Indeed Mr. Bond.
