I've wanted to use some of a bottle of Greek Muscat De Rio Patras desert wine in a cocktail for a while but have struggled for inspiration. It is very much a sweet wine but has a real underlying acidity balancing the sweetness as great sweet wines do. I have to say I think this worked really well as a vermouth substitute in this Manhattan style drink.

Ingredients:
  • 2oz Redemption High Rye Bourbon
  • 1oz Muscat De Rio Patras desert wine
  • 1/2oz Cocchi Americano sweet white vermouth
  • 2 dashes Dr Adam Elmogiraffe's Dandelion & Burdock Bitters
Preparation:

Stir and strain. Add a cherry and express over a coin of orange zest. Wipe the zest around the rim and discard. Drink heroically while looking down at the players on the stage.
