Enjoyed this deceptively tasty cocktail at Root restaurant in New Orleans recently. I'm not generally a fan of having cocktails with my meal and prefer wine, but this drink worked really well with the charcuterie and makes me rethink things a bit. Orgeat syrup is a sweet syrup generally made from almonds, sugar and rose water or orange flower water.
Maker's Mark Kentucky Bourbon
Homemade Orgeat Syrup
Fresh Lemon Juice
Mix the bourbon, syrup, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker over crushed ice. Add a separated egg white, cover and shake vigorously.
Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice with no garnish.
