Proof On Main in Louisville is one of our favorites down there and their cocktails are superb. This is a great fall cocktail as things turn cold. Crafted by Jenni Pittman of Proof on Main and inspired by 21c Museum’s exhibition Woman on the Run. It was served at their second annual The Hog and The Barrel Dinner.
A new favorite of my wife but she is not a huge bourbon fan, so I varied the mix for her with 1 oz bourbon, 1 oz apple brandy instead.
2 oz Van Winkle 10 year 107 proof Bourbon (I like Heaven Hill 6 Year Bottled In Bond or Buffalo Trace)
2 oz Apple Cider
½ oz Carpano Punt e Mes (Dolin works nicely too)
½ oz Sorghum Vanilla syrup
juice from ½ lemon
Combine all ingredients in cocktail shaker
Shake over ice
Strain into rocks glass filled with ice
