About this Cocktail

Somebody on here posted a negroni with Lillet rose in lieu of vermouth. Well I had a bottle of Cocchi and some rye at the house, and that led to the obvious here. Color-wise I guess it's more of an old Pal, flavorwise closer to a Boulevardier. The first try was with 1:1:1 ratio and although it was delicious, I felt it was almost into guilty pleasure or even shooter territory, so I upped the whiskey a bit (this makes a little more than a single drink obviously, but I like the ratio of these amounts)

  • 2.5oz Rye Whiskey
  • 2oz Cocchi Americano
  • 2oz Campari
  • Large twist of orange zest

Combine liquid ingredients in ice filled mixing vessel of your choice, stir till very well chilled. Strain into chilled cocktail glass, express large orange zest twist and garnish therewith (I think grapefruit or lemon zest would be even better maybe - but the rye bottle is empty)
