About this Cocktail

A bitterer, badder Metamorphosis, a Gregor Samsa who won't take your shit. RGF, NYC, 2013.

Ingredients:
  • 1 oz Zwack Unicum
  • 1 oz Bourbon
  • 3/4 oz Dark wildflower honey syrup or buckwheat honey syrup
  • 3/4 oz Lemon juice
  • 1 dash Black walnut bitters
Preparation:

Shake, strain, rock.

    For fancy drinks, Pouring Ribbons, Dead Rabbit, Mayahuel if you're into agave spirits, Grace, Nomad, Clover Club, PDT if you can wrangle it. Blue & Gold and Noorman's Kil for well-priced and extensive whisk(e)y selections. Lots of good dives and happy hour joints too but I'll have to wrack my brain a bit.

    Williamsburgwise, I really like Dram, Donna (which will unfortunately probably be closed when you visit—the space is under reconstruction), Hotel Delmano, Maison Premiere, and Huckleberry

    Bushwick Country Club in Williamsburg is like a hipster ideal of a dive bar, for better or worse—filthy, unpretentious, with loud rock music and old b-movies on the TVs, with free cheese puffs, a slushy machine serving frozen Jim 'n Cokes, and miniature golf in the back, but a backbar loaded with good whiskey and Fernet. Good prices and specials and no-bullshit bartenders. Home of the pickleback. A fun time.
